Leaves Cancelled, Forces on High Alert Following Increased Tensions at the Border

In a significant move to bolster border security, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has deployed additional battalions to Jammu & Kashmir, focusing on strengthening border outposts and assisting the local police in maintaining law and order at key locations across the region.

This deployment comes on the heels of a high-level directive from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who instructed all paramilitary forces to reinforce outposts in states and Union Territories that share borders with Pakistan and Nepal.

Strategic Deployment Across the Valley

According to senior CRPF officials, several battalions are already en route to strategic locations in the Valley. “We have sent these additional battalions to reinforce border outposts and support the state police in deployment operations,” an official said.

The authorities have ordered unit commanders to remain stationed in their respective areas, closely coordinate with other security agencies, and avoid unnecessary troop movements to monitor the evolving security scenario, especially amid increasing hostilities from across the border.

Pakistan Shelling Intensifies Along LoC

The reinforcement comes amid heightened cross-border aggression from Pakistan, with intensified shelling reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors. The violence has already claimed 16 innocent lives, including three women and five children, according to a government statement.

India has responded to the shelling to halt further mortar and artillery attacks from the Pakistani side.

CRPF Personnel on Full Alert

In light of the security threats, leaves of all CRPF personnel have been cancelled, and troops have been instructed to take all necessary precautions to handle any emergency.

“We have directed all unit heads to implement full security measures within their areas and to sensitize troops for heightened vigilance and alertness, especially near border zones,” a CRPF official said.

National Security Takes Center Stage

The deployment highlights India’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its borders. With evolving threats and rising tensions, the CRPF’s proactive move signals the government’s readiness to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain peace and order in the region.
