🔴 VHP Slams West Bengal Government Over Violence Linked to Waqf Law Protests; RSS Provides Relief Camps to Displaced Hindus
Etawah, April 10 – The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has drawn strong parallels between the recent violence against Hindus in West Bengal and the Kashmir exodus, urging the central government to step in if the state administration fails to control the unrest.
Amid widespread protests over the new Waqf law, several regions in Murshidabad district witnessed violent mob attacks, forcing many Hindu families to flee to Malda and nearby areas. The clashes, which have reportedly claimed three lives, have drawn severe condemnation from right-wing organizations.
“The attacks on Hindus in Dhulian, Suti, and Shamsherganj are condemnable. This incident is an exact repetition of what happened in Kashmir,” said Milind Parande, VHP’s National General Secretary, currently visiting the affected areas in the state.
🔻 Hindus Turn Refugees in Their Own State
The violence erupted during protests over the controversial Waqf Act, spiraling into targeted attacks on Hindu homes. Many families are now seeking refuge in relief camps established by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Padlapur. Around 400 individuals from over 20 villages are being sheltered, with women and children forming 80% of the displaced population.
RSS sources report an urgent need for doctors, medicines, and transportation, citing the difficulty in fleeing due to long distances and lack of ferry services over the Ganga.
🔻 VHP Demands Capital Punishment, Compensation, and Deployment of Central Forces
Calling the attacks “Jihadi” in nature, Parande has called for capital punishment for the culprits and compensation for the families of the deceased. He further demanded rehabilitation of the displaced and deployment of central forces to avoid further flare-ups, especially in Siliguri and other parts of West Bengal.
“If the state fails to control the situation, the Centre must act immediately,” said Parande, also taking aim at provocative remarks made by ministers in the state government.
🔻 BSF Deployed, Relief Measures Underway
In response to the growing tensions, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has already deployed Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in affected regions. Meanwhile, volunteers and local support networks are striving to provide food, clothing, and basic healthcare to the displaced families
