Russia Launches Drone Attacks on Ukraine Hours After Agreeing to Partial Ceasefire with US

World News

Kyiv, Ukraine – Just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin assured the US of a temporary halt on strikes against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, Russia launched a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks overnight.

Russia Resumes Strikes Despite Partial Ceasefire Agreement

On Tuesday evening, Putin and former US President Donald Trump held a two-hour conversation where Trump pushed for a full 30-day ceasefire. However, Putin rejected the proposal, agreeing only to a limited pause in targeting Ukrainian infrastructure. Despite this, air raid sirens soon blared across Kyiv as waves of kamikaze drones and S-300 missiles struck Ukrainian cities.

Heavy Attacks on Kyiv and Other Regions

Authorities reported that nearly 45 drones targeted the Kyiv region, damaging homes and vehicles. A drone strike on a hospital in Sumy forced the evacuation of over 100 patients. In a nearby village, one civilian lost their life.

“In many regions, we can hear exactly what Russia wants,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Telegram. He emphasized that Moscow’s continued attacks highlight the need for increased global pressure to end the war.

Ukraine Retaliates with Drone Strikes

In response, Ukraine carried out its own drone attacks on Russian territory, reportedly hitting an oil depot in Krasnodar. Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have intercepted 57 Ukrainian drones, primarily in the Kursk region.

US Calls for Peace, Putin Stands Firm

The White House described the Putin-Trump call as a step toward peace, hoping it could lead to a ceasefire in the Black Sea and eventually a resolution to the conflict. However, Putin showed no signs of changing his stance, and Kyiv continues to reject Russia’s conditions for peace.

The situation remains tense as both sides engage in escalating attacks despite international diplomatic efforts.
