Army Personnel Dies on Tejas Rajdhani Express Near Etawah: Sudden Illness During Journey

Etawah: A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night aboard the Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express, where an army personnel suddenly fell ill and died after the train made an emergency stop at Etawah Junction.

Army Air Defense in Meerut had posted Jitendra Hutta (35), son of Satya Narayan Hutta, a resident of Boudh district in Odisha. He was returning to duty after taking a leave.


According to officials, Jitendra began experiencing severe abdominal pain shortly after the train departed from Kanpur Central Station. He informed the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE), who in turn alerted Railway Control. The railway authorities halted train number 20817 Tejas Rajdhani Express at Etawah station at around 10:05 PM based on the emergency report.

Station Superintendent P.M. Meena and RPF Constable Praveen Kumar assisted in deboarding the ailing soldier. Railway doctors initially treated him at the platform, but he did not show signs of improvement.

They immediately referred Jitendra to the Etawah District Hospital via ambulance, where he succumbed to his condition around 12:00 midnight.

Following his death, the Government Railway Police (GRP) informed his family and coordinated the post-mortem on Monday afternoon. GRP Station In-charge Shailesh Nigam confirmed that the body was handed over to army officials after the necessary procedures.

This incident has once again highlighted the critical need for rapid medical response systems for long-distance passengers, especially in emergencies involving on-duty personnel.
