Lathis and Iron Rods Used in Attack Over Farmland Ploughing Dispute in Basrehar Area

A violent clash broke out between two real brothers over a land partition and ploughing dispute in Killi Sultanpur village, under Basrehar police station limits in Etawah. “The attackers used lathis (wooden sticks) and iron rods during the confrontation, seriously injuring four members of one family.”

Among them, one person is in critical condition. The accused family has reportedly locked their house and fled the village.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night when Arjun Singh, a resident of Killi Sultanpur, had an argument with his younger brother over cultivating farmland. According to Arjun’s daughter-in-law Anamika, her uncle-in-law Shivlal attacked Arjun with support from his family members.“The attackers brutally assaulted her husband Prem Shankar, mother-in-law Rajkumari, and her with rods and sticks when they tried to intervene.”

“Someone hit Prem Shankar on the head with an iron rod, causing him to collapse unconscious.”

The attackers, assuming him dead, fled the scene. Local residents gathered at the sound of cries and rushed the injured to the Etawah District Hospital in private vehicles. “The doctor referred Prem Shankar to the Medical College for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition.”

Station House Officer (SHO) Saurabh Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused based on a written complaint by Arjun Singh. He added that the accused family has absconded, locking up their home, and that police raids are ongoing to arrest them.

This incident underscores the rising tension over ancestral land disputes in rural areas and the need for timely legal mediation to avoid such violent outcomes.
