💔 Police Crack Case After Discovering Key Clue Left Behind in Hotel Room
In a shocking case that has gripped the nation, Meghalaya Police have cracked the alleged honeymoon murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, after a vital clue — a mangalsutra — led them to suspect his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, of planning the crime.
The newlywed couple from Indore had traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, only to vanish on May 23. After days of search operations, Raja’s body was found in a deep gorge on June 2. Sonam remained missing until June 9, when she surfaced in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, with a dubious claim that she had been drugged and kidnapped.
However, Meghalaya police quickly pieced together a disturbing narrative of betrayal. According to Deputy Inspector General DNR Marak, investigators found Sonam’s mangalsutra and ring abandoned in a suitcase at the Sohra homestay. “How can a newly married woman leave behind her mangalsutra during her honeymoon? That raised immediate red flags,” said Marak.
🕵️♂️ Premeditated Murder and Contract Killers
The investigation revealed that Sonam allegedly conspired with her lover Raj Kushwaha, her father’s employee, to murder Raja. The duo reportedly hired three contract killers. On a trek, Sonam allegedly walked ahead under the pretense of clicking photos, while the killers ambushed Raja from behind. She is also accused of helping dispose of his body.
Director General of Police Nongrang confirmed to PTI, “We recovered Sonam’s mangalsutra and a ring from the suitcase left behind. That was a major clue. No newly married woman would do that unless she wanted to create a cover story.”
🎯 Lured with a Spiritual Pretext
Police sources further revealed that Sonam convinced Raja to travel to Meghalaya by insisting she would only consummate the marriage after a visit to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
Currently, Sonam and her alleged accomplice have been arrested. The investigation continues as authorities prepare to file a detailed chargesheet in the gruesome case.
