Panic and Devastation as Shabad Apartment Blaze Claims Three Lives, Investigation Underway
In a devastating incident on Tuesday morning, a massive fire engulfed the top floors of Shabad Apartment in Dwarka Sector 13, claiming the lives of a father and his two children. The victims, identified as Yash Yadav (35), his 12-year-old daughter, and 10-year-old son, tragically jumped from their burning eighth-floor flat in a desperate attempt to escape the blaze.
Fire officials received a call reporting the fire at 10:01 AM and promptly deployed eight fire tenders.
The fire, which originated on the top floor, spread rapidly and generated thick black smoke visible from a distance.
Yash Yadav’s wife and a relative survived the fire and rushed to IGI Hospital for medical attention. Officials confirmed that emergency crews safely evacuated all remaining residents and disconnected utilities like electricity and gas as a precautionary measure.
Eyewitness Accounts and Emergency Response
Residents described the chaotic scene as flames and smoke poured from the upper floors. Passersby captured disturbing videos showing people screaming and praying for those trapped inside.
“People on the sixth floor were smashing windows; others on lower floors managed to escape quickly, but those on higher floors had a harrowing time,” said a local resident.
Additional DCP Dwarka, Nishant Gupta, stated:
“The fire affected the 8th and 9th floors. Two children jumped from the balcony to save themselves and were later declared dead. Their father, Yash Yadav, also jumped and was declared dead. He was a businessman involved in the Flex Board business.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities including DDA and MCD have been alerted to assess the building’s structural safety. An investigation is currently underway.

The tragic loss of lives has left the residents of Shabad Apartment and the surrounding community in deep shock. Local officials urged people to avoid the site to allow emergency teams to function smoothly.
