In a powerful address in Kanpur, the PM says Operation Sindoor is the new normal, warns Pakistan against terror tactics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, declared that the Indian armed forces had forced the Pakistani Army to plead for a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor, India’s powerful counter-offensive following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

PM Modi emphasized that threats of nuclear weapons will no longer intimidate India and that India will act decisively and independently in its fight against terrorism.

“India’s principle in the fight against terror is to give a befitting reply to every attack. The time, method, and scale will be decided by our forces themselves,” said Modi.

Operation Sindoor: A New Era of Indian Resolve

Highlighting Operation Sindoor as a turning point, PM Modi noted that Indian forces penetrated deep into enemy territory, destroying several terror camps in Pakistan using indigenous weapons, including the BrahMos missile.

“The world witnessed the power of ‘Make in India’ as Indian-made weapons created havoc in terrorist hideouts,” the Prime Minister stated.

He also paid tribute to Shubham Dwivedi, a victim from Kanpur who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack. Modi called him the “son of Kanpur”, expressing solidarity with the victim’s family and acknowledging the collective grief and anger felt by the nation.

Pakistan Forced to Plead

Speaking about the outcome of the Indian military operation, Modi said:

“It was the courage of our brave soldiers on the Line of Control that forced Pakistan to beg for a ceasefire. And let me reiterate: Operation Sindoor is not over yet.”

The PM added that India has rejected Pakistan’s long-standing strategy of using both state and non-state actors for terror activities and will no longer tolerate it.

Major Infrastructure Boost for Uttar Pradesh

Alongside his strong message on national security, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several key infrastructure projects worth over ₹47,600 crore in Uttar Pradesh.

Key projects include:

  • Kanpur Metro Rail’s Underground Section, from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central, with five new stations.
  • Three 660 MW power units at the Ghatampur Thermal Power Station.
  • A new thermal power project in Panki to boost electricity supply across the region.
  • Two new railway bridges connecting the Panki power plant to Kalyanpur.

These initiatives are expected to improve connectivity, boost power supply, and enhance the overall economic infrastructure of the state.
