Staff Next Door Claim They Heard No Gunshots

Patna: The shocking murder of Surbhi Raj, co-owner of Asia Hospital in Patna, has left the police puzzled as they explore possible motives, including business rivalry and internal disputes. Adding to the mystery, hospital staff present in a nearby room stated that they did not hear any gunshots during the incident.

Victim Shot Inside Her Office

According to the police, Surbhi Raj was shot dead inside her office at Asia Hospital, located in the Agam Kuan area of Bihar’s capital. The perpetrators remain unidentified, and their motive is yet to be determined.

Atulesh Jha, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Patna City, stated that the victim was found unconscious and in a pool of blood by hospital staff. She was rushed to the ICU and later shifted to AIIMS Patna, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police received information about the attack at approximately 3:30 PM. Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including professional and personal disputes.

Police Recover Bullet Casings, Staff Detained for Questioning

Forensic teams examined the crime scene and discovered six bullet casings, confirming that Raj had sustained four bullet injuries.

A training session for some hospital staff was taking place in the room next to Raj’s office at the time of the attack. However, all staff members questioned have claimed that they were unaware of the incident and heard no gunshots.

The police have detained over half a dozen people, including hospital staff, for interrogation. Patna SP (East) S Ramdas confirmed that investigators are considering multiple possibilities, including business rivalry and an internal feud.

Tributes and Recent Business Expansion

Hospital staff and colleagues remembered Surbhi Raj as a kind-hearted and fair individual.

Hospital manager Tarendra Kumar, who has been working there since 2022, revealed that Raj and her husband had two young sons, aged five and three. He also mentioned that the couple had recently purchased two adjacent buildings near the hospital for expansion purposes and had moved their personal offices to the new premises. Raj had only started coming to the hospital regularly in the last two months.

Investigation Continues

Authorities are thoroughly investigating the case, and efforts are underway to identify the culprits and uncover the true motive behind the murder. The mystery surrounding the gunshots, the recent business expansion, and the possible internal conflict have made this case a high priority for law enforcement.
