Train Stops Between Bharathna and Ikdil Due to Emergency Brakes

A major disruption occurred on Saturday night when the Lalgarh-Prayagraj Express (Train No. 20404) collided with stray cattle between Bharathna and Ikdil railway stations. The train remained halted for an hour as the remains of the cattle got stuck in the pressure machine, affecting several other trains on the route.

Incident Details

The accident took place at 11:30 PM on Saturday when the superfast train traveling from Lalgarh to Prayagraj hit the cattle. The locomotive pilot immediately applied emergency brakes and brought the train to a stop. However, due to the remains of the cattle getting lodged in the train’s pressure system, it was unable to move forward.

The train driver and guard immediately informed the Tundla Control Room, following which teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the scene. The railway team worked to remove the cattle remains stuck in the train’s pressure system.

Other Trains Affected

Due to the incident, the Lalgarh-Prayagraj Express remained stationary on the main railway line for nearly an hour, impacting multiple trains:

  • Kaifiyat Express and Vaishali Express were halted at Etawah Junction.
  • Farakka Express and Dehradun Express were stopped at Bharathna railway station.
  • Unchahar Express and other trains were also delayed.

Railway Official’s Statement

Station Superintendent P.N. Meena confirmed that the delay was caused due to cattle getting stuck in the train’s machinery. Railway authorities worked swiftly to clear the tracks and resume normal operations.
