Etawah: A major confrontation erupted between resident doctors and nursing staff at Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Etawah, disrupting OPD services and leaving patients stranded. Both groups staged protests, leveling accusations against each other and demanding administrative intervention.
Protests Disrupt Hospital Services
The conflict began after a female nursing staff member accused a doctor of misconduct and lodged a complaint with the authorities. Despite assurances of action, the nursing staff claimed that no steps had been taken, prompting them to stage a sit-in outside the emergency department on Wednesday morning.
Reacting to this, the Resident Doctors’ Association also began protesting in front of the administrative building. The resident doctors alleged that the nursing staff was unwilling to work and often made false accusations when confronted about their duties.
Patients Face Hardships
The protests brought OPD services to a standstill, causing significant inconvenience to patients. Many were left waiting for treatment, with no resolution in sight as the stalemate continued throughout the day.
Demands for Resolution
Both the Resident Doctors’ Association and the Nursing Staff Association are holding firm on their respective demands, while hospital administration officials are under pressure to mediate and resolve the situation to restore normalcy.
The incident highlights the growing tension between healthcare workers, raising concerns about its impact on patient care.
