Key accused Aditya Jain alias Tony nabbed in international operation; linked to extortion and “dabba” call racket

Etawah Today Bureau | New Delhi/Dubai
In a significant breakthrough, Rajasthan Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Aditya Jain alias Tony, a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang, from Dubai. Jain is allegedly a key operative in multiple extortion and firing cases, and a crucial figure in facilitating the gang’s overseas extortion operations via “dabba” calls.

According to police officials, Jain operated as a go-between for gang members abroad and those in India. His modus operandi involved using internet calls to threaten victims and then connect them to gang leaders outside the country — a tactic known as the “dabba call” technique.

What is a ‘Dabba Call’?

Police explain the process as follows:

  1. A gang member uses the internet to call a target in India and issues extortion threats.
  2. Simultaneously, the gangster connects a second phone to the gang boss abroad.
  3. By placing both phones on speaker and side by side, the gang boss directly threatens the victim while staying untraceable.

International Operation Leads to Arrest

Interpol issued a Red Notice against Jain, prompting international police agencies to trace and detain him. Acting on the alert, a special Rajasthan Police team, including AGTF ASP Siddhant Sharma, traveled to Dubai. DIG-CID (CB) Yogesh Yadav and ASP Narottam Verma led the AGTF-Interpol team and coordinated the mission.

Jain’s Criminal Background

Authorities confirmed that Aditya Jain was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including firing and extortion across multiple states. His arrest is expected to provide critical leads into the operations of the Bishnoi-Godara gang, which is already under heavy scrutiny for involvement in high-profile crime cases across India.

Rajasthan Police said this arrest marks a major success in their crackdown on organized crime, especially as gangs increasingly attempt to operate from foreign locations using digital means.
