The operation has uncovered widespread violations of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, leading to the seizure of 75 goods vehicles used for transporting untaxed merchandise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The raids targeted traders operating in areas like Chickpet, Avenue Road, Cottonpet, Balepet, and B.V.K. Iyengar Road. Businesses dealing in electrical and electronic goods, readymade garments, textiles, automobiles, and handicrafts were the main focus of the inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the department uncovered multiple instances of traders selling goods without issuing invoices, thereby evading taxes. In response, officials imposed penalties as per the provisions of the GST Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Unregistered Warehouses and Illegal Operations Exposed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Investigators also discovered that many traders were using a network of unregistered warehouses to conceal illegal operations and were conducting business activities without properly registering or declaring them to the tax department.&#8221;<\/strong> These violations attracted further penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department\u2019s investigation revealed that several of these traders were illegally transporting goods into Karnataka without appropriate invoicing, including high-value items like electrical goods, textiles, and automobiles. <strong>&#8220;Traders sold these goods within the state without proper documentation, causing significant revenue loss to the government.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Iron and Steel Sector Under Scrutiny<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The crackdown also exposed tax evasion in the iron and steel sector. Traders were found to be evading taxes on TMT bars and metal scrap\u2014critical materials used in the construction and manufacturing industries. This indicates that tax evasion was not limited to consumer goods but extended into infrastructure-related commodities as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Wake-Up Call for Non-Compliant Traders<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials described the operation as a <strong>\u201cmultidimensional inspection strategy\u201d<\/strong> that has unearthed a large-scale tax evasion network involving goods worth several crores of rupees.
