The five-day trip from June 15-19 includes official visits to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, focusing on deepening diplomatic and economic ties.
In a landmark diplomatic development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Croatia on June 18, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the southeastern European nation. The visit will conclude Modi’s five-day international tour from June 15 to 19, which also includes key stops in Cyprus and Canada.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the trip begins in Cyprus on June 15-16, where PM Modi, at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides, will hold bilateral talks and address business leaders in Limassol. This will be the first Indian Prime Ministerial visit to Cyprus in over two decades, reaffirming India’s commitment to stronger Mediterranean and EU ties.
From Cyprus, the Prime Minister will head to Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16-17 to participate in the G7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This marks Modi’s sixth consecutive participation in the summit. He is expected to engage in discussions with G7 leaders and international bodies on pressing global issues, including energy security, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.
The tour concludes in Croatia on June 18, where PM Modi will meet with Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and President Zoran Milanovic. The visit symbolizes a strategic diplomatic step in enhancing India’s relationship with the European Union and Eastern Europe. It also compensates for the earlier cancellation of a planned visit to Croatia during India’s emergency Operation Sindoor.
With back-to-back high-level engagements, the trip signals India’s proactive global outreach and its expanding influence across Europe and North America.
