Thousands gather at Eidgah in festive spirit; district administration ensures smooth and safe celebrations

“People in Etawah celebrated the festival of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) with deep devotion, enthusiasm, and communal harmony.”

Thousands of members from the Muslim community gathered at the city’s main Eidgah and offered namaz in two shifts under the cool morning skies. After prayers, the warm gesture of embracing one another and exchanging greetings reflected the spirit of brotherhood and mutual love. “Children in traditional attire joyfully hugged elders and wished them ‘Eid Mubarak.'”

Crowds started gathering at the Eidgah early in the morning. “Worshippers offered the first round of namaz at around 6:45 AM, followed by the second round at 7:45 AM, as per the scheduled timing.”

After the prayer, the Imam delivered a special sermon (khutbah), praying for peace, harmony, unity, and progress of the nation.

To ensure the festival proceeded peacefully, the district administration and police remained on high alert. Tight security arrangements were made throughout the city. District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla and Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Srivastava personally visited the Eidgah to review the security arrangements. They were accompanied by ADM, SP, CO, EO, and police station in-charges, along with a large police force.

“Authorities deployed PAC and police personnel at key intersections, around the Eidgah, and in sensitive areas. Police also conducted foot patrols to maintain order. To manage the crowd and ensure peace effectively, officials divided the city into sectors and zones and posted personnel strategically.”

On the occasion, several political leaders and representatives from social organizations extended their greetings to the Muslim community. Samajwadi Party district president Pradeep Shakya visited the Eidgah, warmly greeted people, and said, “Eid is a festival that symbolizes unity, humanity, and love. It reflects the beauty of our Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (composite culture).”
