Romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf earns ₹37 crore in 5 days, overtakes Deva despite weekday slump
Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s time-loop romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf continues to hold steady at the box office. On its fifth day, the film earned ₹4.5 crore, matching its Monday numbers and bringing the total domestic collection to ₹37 crore. Despite the weekday dip from Sunday’s peak, the film has now officially surpassed Shahid Kapoor’s action-drama Deva, which had collected ₹33.97 crore in India.
A Slow but Steady Climb
Directed by debutant Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Bhool Chuk Maaf saw its biggest haul on Sunday, with ₹11.5 crore. However, the earnings dropped sharply on Monday and remained static on Tuesday, with ₹4.5 crore each day.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is showing strong audience retention in night shows (36.19% occupancy), while the morning shows remain relatively weak (8.63%). Among the cities, Chennai leads in occupancy at 56.67%, followed by Jaipur, NCR, Mumbai, and Pune.
Surpasses Deva, Eyes Unchallenged Week Ahead
With its ₹37 crore collection, Bhool Chuk Maaf has overtaken Deva, a cop drama starring Shahid Kapoor that struggled to cross the ₹34 crore mark. The film is expected to maintain its momentum for a few more days due to the absence of major Hindi releases this week.
However, new competition looms large next week. On June 5, the Hindi-dubbed version of Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated crime thriller Thug Life—featuring Kamal Haasan, Simbu, and Trisha—will hit theatres. Tarun Mansukhani will release his comedy Housefull 5, led by Akshay Kumar, on June 6.
