New Delhi, May 13 – In a significant diplomatic development, India has expelled a Pakistani diplomat posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, citing involvement in activities “not in keeping with his official status.” “India has declared the unnamed official ‘persona non grata’ and ordered him to leave the country within 24 hours.”

“India conveyed the decision on Tuesday through a formal demarche to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission, reflecting its serious displeasure over the official’s conduct.”

However, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) did not elaborate on the exact nature of the alleged activities that led to the expulsion.

“The concerned official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours,” an MEA spokesperson confirmed.

This move comes amid already strained diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan. While both countries have previously engaged in tit-for-tat expulsions, this latest incident adds further tension to their complex bilateral relationship.

The expulsion underscores India’s firm stance on national security and its unwillingness to tolerate diplomatic misconduct. In the absence of detailed information from the MEA, speculation is likely to persist about what triggered such a swift and strong action.

The Pakistan High Commission has not issued a public response at the time of publication.
