Says PM Modi’s Decision Will Strengthen Social Justice and Uplift Backward Communities

In a major political statement, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has hailed the NDA government’s decision to conduct a caste census alongside the national Census as a “historic” move aimed at ensuring social justice and strengthening the foundation for a developed India by 2047.

Paswan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference on Thursday, stating that he knows how to take the right decisions at the right time. This caste census is yet another example of his timely leadership.”

Rebuttal to Opposition’s Allegations

Paswan rejected the Congress and other Opposition parties’ allegations that linked the decision to political motives and the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
He countered, “If this decision were for elections, we would have done it before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The Opposition is trying to create a false narrative.”

He accused parties like the Congress, RJD, and others of using the caste census as a “political weapon” during elections, while the NDA government is taking concrete steps to implement it for the upliftment of neglected communities.

Focus on Inclusive Growth and Reservation Reforms

Paswan emphasized that India has never conducted a caste-based census since Independence, and the current move would now highlight underprivileged communities that no one has yet brought into the mainstream or allowed to benefit from reservation schemes. He stated, “Many backward castes remain overshadowed by dominant groups within their category. ”This decision ensures a fair share for all,” he added.

Accuses Congress of Political Hypocrisy

Calling out the non-transparent caste surveys conducted in Karnataka and Telangana by Congress-ruled states, Paswan labelled them “politically motivated” and lacking credibility. “While the Opposition talks about social justice, they have done little when they were in power,” he said.

He also linked the decision to the vision of Dr. B R Ambedkar, asserting that the caste census would help fulfill Ambedkar’s dream of equality and inclusion for all sections of society.
