India News India News politics

A recent CVoter survey has revealed that MK Stalin remains the most preferred Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with 27% of respondents favoring his leadership. However, the survey also indicates a potential political shift, as actor-turned-politician Vijay has secured the second spot with 18% support, despite his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), yet to contest elections.

MK Stalin Maintains Lead, Vijay in Strong Second Place

According to the survey, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is the top choice for the position with 27% of the votes. Meanwhile, Vijay, a popular actor and the founder of TVK, is gaining momentum, securing 18% support.

In the third position, AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami received 10% support, while Tamil Nadu BJP Chief K Annamalai followed with 9% of the votes.

The survey results highlight the stronghold of MK Stalin, but the rise of Vijay as a political figure indicates a possible shift in the state’s electoral landscape.

Public Opinion on Tamil Nadu Government’s Performance

The survey also assessed public satisfaction with the current DMK-led government:

  • 15% of respondents said they were very much satisfied with the government’s performance.
  • 36% stated they were satisfied to some extent.
  • 25% were not at all satisfied, while 24% remained undecided.

Regarding MK Stalin’s individual performance as Chief Minister:

  • 22% were very much satisfied.
  • 33% were satisfied to some extent.
  • 22% were not at all satisfied, while 23% remained undecided.

These numbers suggest that while Stalin continues to be the top leader, public satisfaction with governance remains mixed.

Edappadi K Palaniswami and BJP’s Annamalai: Where Do They Stand?

The survey also examined the approval ratings of Edappadi K Palaniswami, the Leader of the Opposition, and BJP’s K Annamalai.

For Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS):

  • 8% were very much satisfied.
  • 27% were satisfied to some extent.
  • 32% were not at all satisfied, while 33% remained undecided.

For BJP’s K Annamalai, the survey did not specify satisfaction levels but indicated that his support base remains limited at 9%.

Key Issues Influencing Tamil Nadu Voters

The survey also explored the most pressing concerns influencing voter decisions. The top issues ranked by respondents include:

  1. Women’s Security – 15%
  2. Rising Prices – 12%
  3. Drug and Alcohol Abuse – 10%
  4. Unemployment – 8%

These concerns highlight the key challenges that political parties will need to address ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections.

Vijay’s Political Rise: A Game Changer?

While MK Stalin remains the undisputed leader, Vijay’s unexpected rise to second place suggests that Tamil Nadu’s political dynamics may be shifting. Despite TVK not yet contesting elections, the actor’s growing support signals potential political disruption in the future.
