Dausa, Rajasthan – A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Dausa district where a 25-year-old man was brutally assaulted and later succumbed to his injuries after he allegedly refused to be smeared with Holi colours. The violent attack took place at the government library in Ralawas, Dausa, and has led to the arrest of one suspect so far.
Incident Details
According to the police, the victim, identified as Hansraj Meena, was preparing for patwari (revenue officer) exams in the local library when an altercation broke out between him and three individuals over the application of Holi colours. CCTV footage from the scene captured the horrific attack, showing the accused punching, kicking, and beating Hansraj with a belt. The attackers reportedly even attempted to strangle him.
Immediate Aftermath
Following the brutal assault, Hansraj sustained serious head injuries. He was rushed to Lalsot hospital, where he was declared dead.
Speaking on the matter, Dinesh Agarwal, Additional SP (Lalsot), stated, “Around 4 pm on March 12, a fight broke out between some students in the library. Hansraj sustained severe head injuries in the fracas, which ultimately led to his death.”
Arrest and Investigation
Ramsharan Gurjar, SHO of Ramgarhpachwara police station, confirmed that an FIR for murder has been lodged. One of the three accused, Bablu Meena, has been arrested. The other two suspects, identified as Ashok and Kalu, are currently absconding. Police teams are actively searching for them.
Public Outrage and Protest
The shocking murder led to significant public outrage. Following Hansraj’s death, villagers staged a protest by blocking the highway and allegedly misbehaved with hospital staff. The victim’s family demanded swift justice, including a government job for his kin, Rs 50 lakh in compensation, and the immediate arrest of all culprits.
After negotiations with the administration, an agreement was reached, leading to the protest being called off.
