Shortly after Team India secured their record-extending third Champions Trophy title, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the squad, commending their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

India clinched the Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue ended a 12-year wait to reclaim the prestigious title.
This victory establishes India as the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Australia with their third title win. India had previously lifted the trophy in 2002 (joint winners with Sri Lanka) and 2013.

The triumph also marks another milestone for Rohit Sharma, who guided India to their second T20 World Cup title just eight months ago in Barbados. With this victory, India continues an impressive run in ICC white-ball tournaments. Since the start of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the team has played 23 matches across three ICC limited-overs events, suffering only one defeat, which came in the CWC final against Australia.

Praising the team’s efforts, PM Modi shared his excitement on social media, stating:

“An outstanding game and a phenomenal result! Extremely proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. Their performance throughout the tournament has been exceptional. Congratulations to the team for their brilliant all-around display.”
