Rekha Gupta Sworn In as Delhi’s New Chief Minister
New Delhi, February 20, 2025: BJP leader Rekha Gupta took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi today at Ramlila Maidan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior BJP leaders. Alongside her, key members of the Delhi cabinet, including Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma, and Ashish Sood, were also sworn in as ministers. Rekha Gupta is currently the only female BJP leader holding the position of Chief Minister in a BJP-ruled state or Union Territory.
Delhi Cabinet Ministers Announced
After the BJP’s announcement of Rekha Gupta as Delhi’s new Chief Minister on Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs officially released the list of six cabinet ministers on Thursday. The newly appointed ministers include:
- Parvesh Verma (New Delhi)
- Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Rajouri Garden)
- Ravindra Kumar Indraj (Bawana)
- Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar)
- Ashish Sood (Janakpuri)
- Pankaj Kumar Singh (Vikaspuri)
Who is Rekha Gupta?
Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is now the fourth female Chief Minister of Delhi. Having joined the BJP in 2002 after serving in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for nearly a decade, she has held several leadership roles, including General Secretary of Delhi BJP’s Mahila Morcha and National Vice-Chairperson of BJP Mahila Morcha.
In the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, she secured a significant victory over AAP candidate Bandana Kumari in Shalimar Bagh, winning by 29,595 votes.
With her extensive political experience and strong grassroots presence, Rekha Gupta’s leadership is expected to shape the future of Delhi’s governance and development.
