Prayagraj, February 16, 2025: In response to the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which claimed 18 lives, railway authorities in Prayagraj have intensified safety measures, especially with the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela bringing in massive crowds.
Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, Shashikant Tripathi, confirmed that stringent protocols are in place to ensure passenger safety. “We are strictly implementing all previously issued protocols. Successful management of large gatherings during Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami has strengthened our strategy for future events,” he stated.
Safety Protocols at Prayagraj Railway Stations
- Controlled Entry & Exit: Passengers can enter from the city side and exit through Civil Lines side at Prayagraj Junction.
- Holding Areas: Travelers are held in designated areas until their train arrives to prevent overcrowding on platforms.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspector Shiv Kumar assured that the situation remains under control at Prayagraj Junction, with authorities monitoring crowd movement closely.
Similarly, Ashok Kumar, PRO of Varanasi Division (North Eastern Railway), confirmed that Jhunsi and Rambagh stations are enforcing protocols, keeping passengers in waiting areas until trains arrive.
With the Maha Kumbh expected to draw millions of devotees in the coming weeks, railway officials are on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure smooth operations at key transit points.
