Etawah, February 7, 2025: The Etawah police have successfully solved a double murder case, arresting four accused, including a woman. The arrests were made after an investigation into a brutal attack that resulted in the death of a woman and her three-year-old daughter over a property dispute.
Murder Over Property Dispute
On Monday, complainant Rahul Mishra submitted a written complaint to the Friends Colony police station, stating that the house he lived in was registered in the name of his wife, Jyoti Chauhan, by her father Lavkush Singh Chauhan. Due to this, his brother-in-law, Harshvardhan Singh Chauhan, developed a grudge against them.
According to the complaint, on Sunday night at around 9:30 PM, while Rahul Mishra was working on his laptop, Harshvardhan, along with his wife, son Abhishek Pratap, and Krishna Pratap Singh, entered the house armed with pistols and opened fire on Rahul, his wife Jyoti, and their daughter. The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of Jyoti and their daughter.
Police Arrest Four Accused with Weapons
Acting on intelligence, police received information that the accused were planning to escape and were waiting near the Desharmau highway underpass. A joint team of SOG (Special Operations Group), Surveillance Team, and Friends Colony Police Station immediately moved in and arrested four suspects, including one woman, near an overbridge leading to Desharmau village.
Seized Weapons and Confession
During the arrest, police recovered:
- Three illegal country-made pistols used in the murder
- Two live cartridges
- A motorcycle
The main accused, Harshvardhan, along with his wife and son Abhishek, were taken into custody. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime.

Police have assured a thorough investigation, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals. The case highlights growing disputes over property and its fatal consequences, as well as the swift action taken by law enforcement to deliver justice.
