Etawah, Uttar Pradesh | January 14, 2025
A tragic incident at a fair in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, left five people injured after a gondola of a giant swing collapsed from a height of 30 feet. The accident occurred during an exhibition held in the city when the swing was spinning at full speed.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitnesses, the gondola broke due to excessive weight, causing five passengers to fall and sustain injuries. Police rushed to the scene and arranged for the injured to be transported to the district hospital via auto-rickshaw. One victim, in critical condition, was referred to Saifai Medical College for advanced treatment.
One of the injured, a young girl, recounted that she had visited the fair around 8 PM with her siblings. While they were enjoying the swing, a portion of the gondola suddenly broke, leading to the fall.
Overloaded Gondola Suspected
Another injured individual, Vivek, stated that he was with his 24-year-old brother Golu and 15-year-old sister Radha when the incident occurred. He alleged that the swing operator had allowed more passengers than the gondola could safely hold, leading to the accident. Two other passengers, Abhay and Siddharth, were also injured.
Abhay is a resident of Vijaynagar, while Siddharth hails from Narayan Nagar, both areas under Friends Colony police jurisdiction.
Condition of the Victims
Golu, Vivek’s brother, suffered severe injuries and remains in critical condition. He was transferred to Saifai Medical College for specialized care.

Authorities assured that action would be taken against the swing operator if found guilty of negligence.
